FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Why I need CuperUtilities Shortcuts Fixer?

Shortcuts are links to files stored in different folders and drives on your PC. The Windows Start Menu is made of shortcuts pointing to various files elsewhere on your hard drive. These shortcuts, when run, opens its corresponding application or document. Many a time, the 'targets' of these shortcuts are moved or deleted, leaving the shortcut pointing to a file or location that no longer exists. Such 'dead' shortcuts clutter your Start Menu and Desktop.

CuperUtilites Shortcuts Fixer module provides you with an easy and convenient way to address these invalid shortcuts. It scans your system, finds all the invalid shortcuts and  reports back to you so that you can remove it from your system.

How to use CuperUtilities Shortcuts Fixer?

1. Run CuperUtilities Shortcuts Fixer from Start/All Programs/CuperUtilities Shortcuts Fixer.
2. Select the drives/folders to scan for invalid shortcuts.
3. It will search system hard disk for invalid shortcut files and will show you in the list. You can at any time stop the search process by pressing the stop button.
4. After scanning is completed, a list of invalid shortcuts found will be displayed. 'Check mark' those entries which you want to remove from your system. By default, all entries found are unmarked for deletion. Highlighting an entry and right-clicking on it will produce a context menu. The various options on the menu are explained below.

Fix As: You can fix the invalid shortcut by showing it the correct path to the application that it is pointing to. Browse and show the correct path to the destination file and CuperUtilities Shortcuts Fixer will fix the broken link for you.

Properties: Opens the "Windows Properties box" for the shortcut.

Open Folder: Opens the folder in which the invalid shortcut entry exists.

Check All, Check None, and Invert Checks: Selects/de-selects an entry for deletion.

Click "Clean All" to move all the check-marked files to recycle bin.
